Phlip van den Dool (b. 1950), in addition to his work as a physical engineer with specialization in acoustics, developed in the field of art in the 1980s at the Free Academy in The Hague and received the 2019 Green Heart Art Prize.
In addition to using oil, acrylic, watercolor and screen printing, use is also made of the Ipad. The bright colors, the fast, direct and clean work, the application of layers, makes for plenty of experimentation. Using the Apple Pencil and the program Procreate, a drawing is built with the artist's handwriting with different brushes. A digital palette makes it possible to choose from a wide range of colors.
During the 2021 Lockdown, a drawing was made in and around Uithoorn every day in this manner with the Ipad, titled "Lockdown 2 Spring". In addition to working with Ipad and computer, we also work with brush and pallet. The interaction deepens playing with light and form.

First prize Green Heart Art Prize 2019 with Waterline 3.0.
The jury felt that the theme "Water Friend and Enemy" is expressed in a subtly layered way. There is much to see and experience in this work. The threats and pleasures of water are brought together in one transparent and extraordinarily colorful image.

Ipad drawings
Ever since the introduction of the Ipad in 2010, people have been experimenting with drawing on the Ipad.
In the beginning, the resolution of sketches was a limiting factor and could only be drawn with fingers or a simple stylus. Since then, technology has greatly improved and I use the IPad Pro along with the Apple pencil, with a pressure-sensitive response and the App's Procreate and Fresco. The versatility of these programs, good resolution, many layers and options make these App's a favorite for creating IPad drawings.
The final drawings are printed in small or large format as Art Prints, but can also be printed on canvas or plexiglass.
In late January 2021, a series of 110 Ipad drawings titled "Lockdown 2 Spring" was created during Lockdown.
Every day during the lockdown an Ipad drawing was made in the immediate residential area. With this series the monotony of the Covid-19 pandemic was escaped and the versatility of the nature also present in the immediate surroundings of Uithoorn was captured and followed towards the spring and the end of the Lockdown.

On the Climate Expo '22 at the Academiehuis Grote Kerk and Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle, Lockdown 2 Spring was one of the works on display.

Review Sandra Mackus at Climate Expo'22 and Lockdown 2 Spring:
A landscape every day
Phlip van den Dool's small drawings initially look like photographs. Yet they are homemade drawings of landscapes that he made on his Ipad. For a moment I am reminded of the work of David Hockney, who in recent years has also used his iPhone and iPad to draw landscapes, among other things. Van den Dool's project started during the lockdown. Every day he drew a landscape in and around Uithoorn. The 110 drawings show shifts in weather, seasons and thus in the world of plants and flowers. For his work Lockdown 2 Spring he reduced his drawings and placed them in a grid under and next to each other, so that together they form a square. Small differences between the drawings are therefore less noticeable, leaving only large shifts, such as the transition from snow to sun and from winter to spring, to be observed. Versatility seems to be reduced to averages, just as with climate."
